No pressure
Whilst performing a step-in, a player is under no pressure from any opponent and is able to perform the action freely in any direction.
Indirect pressure
Whilst performing a step-in, a player is under pressure from an opponent trying to close down the space and control the direction in which their action can be executed. The opposition player is not within an appropriate distance to compete for possession and is not attempting to directly recover possession themselves.
Direct pressure
Whilst performing a step-in, a player is under clear pressure from an opponent, who is actively attempting to disrupt or compete for possession.
