The type of pass the in-possession player has chosen to utilise whilst distributing the ball. A player’s choice may be influenced by their desire to maintain possession of the ball or create a goalscoring opportunity.

Push

A player attempts to pass the ball to a team-mate in a controlled manner using the inside or outside of their foot.

Lofted

A player attempts to pass the ball to a team-mate aerially.

Driven

A player attempts to pass the ball to a team-mate with speed and power.

Switch of play

A player attempts to pass the ball to a team-mate who is on the other side of the pitch. The ball must progress through at least two vertical field zones.
