During his professional playing career, he played as a left winger/left wing-back, enjoying a 14-year spell with Bolton Wanderers, with 11 of those seasons in the Premier League.
Commonly known as ‘Bibi’, Gardner scored nine goals in his 111 senior caps for Jamaica and played at four CONCACAF Gold Cups and at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Following his playing career, Gardner moved into coaching and became head coach of Jamaica’s U-20 national team before moving into club coaching with Harbour View and Portmore United.
