Vincent Hamonic on his role as assistant coach of France U17s

After having obtained his various coaching badges in Brittany, Vincent Hamonic was appointed as assistant coach of the France U-17 national team in August 2022. Hamonic refers to his appointment as a source of pride and both a challenging and highly fulfilling experience in every sense.

Part 1: overview of assistant coach role
In the first part of the interview, Hamonic reflects on the start of his coaching career and his appointment at the FFF. As Vannuchi’s right-hand man, Hamonic is on hand to offer his knowledge and assistance before, during and after training sessions and games.

Part 2: preparation of training sessions
In the second part of the interview, Hamonic explains the set‑up and schedule of training sessions during the national team’s short and intense week‑long training camps. He then goes on to offer his thoughts on the attributes required of France’s youth players if they are to make it at elite level and harbour aspirations of one day representing the senior national team.
